Linmerse Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 May 2024

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the data needed to provide the service, improve the experience, or meet legal obligations. This includes:

  • Account details: Name, email address, avatar, and other profile fields you provide.
  • Content data: Uploaded audio files, generated transcripts or translations, and your language preferences.
  • Usage data: Logs of feature usage, click interactions, error reports, and device metadata (for example browser type, language, and approximate IP region).
  • Cookies and similar technologies: See our Cookies Policy for more detail.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide core functionality such as uploads, transcription, translation, and personalised study tools.
  • Maintain account security, troubleshoot issues, and prevent abuse or malicious activity.
  • Support third-party authentication (e.g. Google OAuth) so you can sign in quickly.
  • Analyse anonymised usage trends to improve product experience and performance.
  • Work with de-identified learning data to improve speech recognition, translation quality, and recommendations.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities or rights holders.

3. Working with Third Parties

We share aggregated or anonymised usage data with trusted analytics providers such as Google Analytics and Plausible. These partners process the information solely on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

4. Audio Content and Copyright Compliance

Audio files you upload and the derived text are stored securely in our cloud environment. They are used only for the learning activities you authorise. We never use your content for marketing or make it available to third parties. If your uploads contain copyrighted material, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights.

If we receive a valid infringement notice or detect unlawful material, we may restrict access, notify you, or delete the content to comply with legal requirements and protect the platform.

We may anonymise or aggregate transcripts and learning records to improve our speech recognition models, train internal algorithms, or generate product insights. These derived datasets belong to Linmerse but never reveal personal identities.

5. Free Plan and Data Retention

Free accounts have limits on storage, processing time, and transcription credits. To keep the service available, we periodically remove data from accounts that exceed free quotas and have been inactive for an extended period. We will notify you where possible so you can back up or upgrade before any deletion occurs.

6. Security and Data Retention

We protect your data using industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport, access controls, and audit logging. We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Once those purposes are satisfied, we delete or anonymise the data within a reasonable timeframe, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or update the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request export or deletion of data stored on our platform, provided this does not conflict with ongoing legal obligations or disputes.
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential processing, such as analytics cookies.

When you delete content or close your account, we remove or deactivate the associated data from production systems within a reasonable period. Backup copies kept for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or disaster recovery are deleted once those obligations expire. Aggregated or anonymised results that no longer identify you may be retained to improve the service.

To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Children

Linmerse is designed for adult users. If we discover that we have collected information from a minor without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our product or applicable regulations evolve. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Significant changes will be communicated via in-product notices or email.

10. Contact
